ABOUT TANYA GILL

Hello and Welcome! I’m Tanya Gill, the founder of Dose of Therapy. I’m a South Asian Therapist in Los Angeles, California.

Psychology was always stigmatized in my community growing up, and like many children of immigrants, I was encouraged to pursue a career in medicine. Through my training in the hospital, I found myself spending what was considered “too much time talking” to my patients and being curious about their stories and wounds deeper than the eyes could see. I wish I could describe the change I saw in my patients when they were given 5-10 minutes of my uninterrupted time to just listen to them. Talking really is the cure. I made the switch to pursue a career in Clinical Psychology, and I truly believe this is my purpose. I immigrated to the United States as a young kid, and I hope to bring awareness about the importance of mental health to other immigrant communities.

Through my own experiences, life transitions, and clinical training, I found my passion for working with individuals and couples through relationship issues, life transitions, as well as anxiety and depression. Life is hard, and relationships are even harder. My approach involves exploration of your past experiences and relationships, and how they are impacting your current emotions and behaviors.

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, and Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. I currently teach Couple & Family Therapy, Multicultural Counseling, and Clinical Practicum. I truly enjoy the one-on-one work I do with my clients and couples!
